Heteranthera zosterifolia is a striking addition to any aquarium. The leaves of this stem plant are a light green hue, up to 5 cm long and grow in an alternate pattern. With plentiful lighting and CO2, growth is compact and swift, making regular trimming necessary. On a Plantahunter tour, we saw this plant in the Rio da Prata, spanning multiple kilometres of river. Even in water up to 2 m deep, its presence was abundant and lush. The Heteranthera is an ideal plant to create contrast in the midground to background and looks great alongside colourful plants, such as Rotala rotundifolia.
