Eleocharis pusilla, also known as the dwarf spikerush. This delicate aquatic plant is native to the wetlands of Australia and New Zealand and is a favourite among aquascapers for its petite size and natural beauty.
Reaching just a few centimetres in height, Eleocharis pusilla is significantly shorter than its close relative, Eleocharis acicularis, making it ideal for creating detailed foreground carpets. Its light green, slightly curved stems bring a fresh, meadow-like aesthetic to aquariums, perfectly suited for minimalist aquascaping styles like Iwagumi. The plant thrives in cooler water temperatures—anything above 25 °C may hinder its growth, making it a great choice for cooler setups.
Whether you're designing a natural riverbed or a lush underwater meadow, dwarf spikerush adds depth and texture, creating a serene and balanced aquascape.
